GOP Officials Wrapping Up Scouting Visit To Denver

DENVER (AP) — Republican Party officials are wrapping up their visit to Denver as they scout out possible locations for their 2016 convention.

They'll head to Dallas Wednesday after a final round of business in Denver.

After a tour of the Pepsi Center on Tuesday, convention committee members say legal marijuana in Denver won't hinder the city's chances. Denver is also holding its own in fundraising, with nearly $11 million in pledges so far. Host cities have to raise around $60 million.

Denver is competing against Dallas, Cleveland and Kansas City, Missouri.

The committee will announce where it's holding the convention in August.
