Frontier Airlines Approves Gate-To-Gate Cell, Tablet Use

DENVER (CBS4)- Frontier Airlines has received approval for gate-to-gate personal electronic device use from the Federal Aviation Administration. That means passengers can use personal electronic devices in "airplane mode" during all phases of flight.

"This is an exciting day for Frontier customers and has been something they have wanted for some time now," said Scott Gould, vice president, Flight Operations. "We are pleased that we can now offer passengers the opportunity to read e-books, play games and watch videos on their devices during all phases of flight."

Before this was approved, passengers were required to turn off and stow all electronic devices during taxi, takeoff, landing and when the aircraft was below 10,000 feet.

With the new policy, Frontier passengers can use smart phones, tablet and other small electronic devices in airplane mode at any time during those phases.
