Fort Collins Police Services Create New Mental Health Response Team

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- Fort Collins Police Services is introducing a new mental health response team to provide better support for community members in crisis. Two officers were shifted from regular duties to create the unit after working with the UCHealth Core team in January.

The goal is to increase on-scene safety, make sure community members get the proper care, help avoid unnecessary trips to emergency rooms and create a culture of police-mental health collaboration.
