Fort Carson Helicopter Pilot One Of Two Women To Complete Army Ranger School

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- An Apache helicopter pilot from Fort Carson is one of the first two women to compete Army Ranger school.

First Lieutenant Shay Haver went through tests in Colorado Springs last fall to qualify for Ranger training.

"I think if females continue to come to this course, they can be encouraged by what we have accomplished but hopefully they're encouraged by the legacy that the Ranger community has left," said Haver.

Haver and Captain Kristen Griest will graduate alongside 94 male soldiers on Friday at Fort Benning, Georgia.

The women still can't serve in a Ranger regiment but they hope the Pentagon will change that rule soon.
