Former Reebok Store Employee Allegedly Peeped On Women In Changing Rooms

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - A 19-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly photographing women as they changed clothes at a Castle Rock Reebok store.

"I was in tears and beside myself," victim Christy Selvig told CBS4's Tom Mustin.

Selvig is still shaken after being photographed by the alleged peeping Tom.

"Some days I'm really angry, some days I just cry," she said.

On Dec. 31 the Colorado Springs mother of four traveled to the Outlets in Castle Rock. She began to try on some clothes in the Reebok store.

"I was in my bra and panties," she said.

She looked up and saw something moving.

"A young man's head was over the wall of the changing room about 15 or 20 feet in the air."

Terrified, Selvig screamed at the top of her lungs.

"When I screamed, I heard whoever it was that looked down on me jump off something and go running down some stairs."

Selvig says Reebok management did nothing, so she called the police. Three days later officers arrested Austin Baker, 19. The former Reebok employee had allegedly set up a ladder to take pictures of customers as they changed. The arrest warrant shows Baker admitted to spying on at least 10 women. Castle Rock Police also recovered several deleted photos on his cellphone.

"They found photos of me and other women," said Selvig.

Now she is embarrassed and upset.

"Somedays I feel really sorry for the young man, and his family. I can relate as a mom. But I also have a 7-year-old daughter, so I'm very upset and angry. What if that had been her in there?"

Selvig says Reebok has not apologized and has not contacted her in months. She's filing a civil lawsuit against the company. She says the case is not about money, it's about forcing Reebok to create a safe environment for women.

"In some small way, maybe I have a voice to input change and make a difference."

Reebok told CBS4's Tom Mustin that Baker was fired immediately after the incident. They would not discuss the lawsuit. They did send a statement saying, "We train our employees to act professionally at all times, and we have no tolerance for anything else."

Selvig told Mustin that Baker had reportedly told another employee what he had been doing. She believes that employee has also been fired.

Baker is facing charges of invasion of privacy for sexual gratification. He's due back in court on Thursday.
