Former Arapahoe County Sheriff Pleads Guilty To Probation Violation
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)- The former Arapahoe County sheriff pleaded guilty to a probation violation in court on Thursday morning.
Patrick Sullivan pleaded guilty to leaving Colorado. He admitted he left the state for about 10 days.
While in court, Sullivan admitted that he was not under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.
Sullivan could face 12 to 18 months in the Department of Corrections. Fines could be up to $100,000.
Sentencing is set for June 19.
The 71-year-old was sentenced in 2012 to 38 days in jail and placed on two years' probation after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine and soliciting for prostitution.
Court documents state he tested positive for meth three times between September and March and for alcohol four times between April 2012 and August. He also missed dozens of other required drug screenings.
CBS4 obtained documents that state Sullivan tested positive for amphetamines as recently as May 7. The amended complaint states confirmation tests have not been received.
Those documents also stated he left the state without permission three times this year.
One woman at Sullivan's hearing is advocating for clemency for a friend who was arrested by Sullivan when he worked for the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.
Debbie Carroll said because her friend wouldn't give in to Sullivan's demands, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison for a nonviolent offense.
"I would like to feel sorry for him. He's pretty pathetic at this point in his life. But when I look at him is I see the victims. I see the children, the young people who were cornered by him. My belief is that with Donny Andrews is that he was given some options by Pat Sullivan and when he refused that he brought vengeance upon him," said Carroll.
