Forecasters Issue Winter Storm Warning For Southern Colorado

DENVER (AP) - The National Weather Service says a winter storm bearing down on central and southern Colorado could bring up to four feet of snow to some areas.

The weather service issued a winter storm warning on Saturday for the San Juans, Sangre de Cristos, Sawatch mountains and La Garita mountains, which could see one to four feet by Monday evening.

The warning includes Ouray, Telluride, Silverton, Hesperus and Creede.

Smaller amounts of snow are expected in Aspen and Vail, which could get one to two feet of new snow on southwest facing slopes.

The weather service says travel could become hazardous or impossible in some areas.
