Fire Damages Aurora Apartments

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Two people sustained injuries after a two-alarm fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon at an apartment building in Aurora.

The building is located on the 1300 block of South Galena Street, and the fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters.

Images from Copter4 showed black smoke marks on the wall outside one of the units and damage to the roof.

According to the Aurora Fire Department, gas vapors caused a flash fire and explosion, but it's not clear how it ignited.

Two adults who were hurt were contract workers working in the apartments. The extent of their injuries haven't been released.

It's not clear how many people have been displaced by the fire. Eight families have been affected by the incident and the Red Cross was on scene for assistance.

The damage has been estimated at $100,000.
