Unusual Chase: Armed Man Found Hiding Under Car In Custody

FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. (CBS4) - A man is in custody after an unusual chase in Federal Heights Sunday morning.

Officers finally captured the suspect after he was found armed with a gun and hiding under a car at a dealership.

Police say it started when an undercover officer spotted a suspected car thief. He and other officers followed the suspect onto Interstate 25. The man slowed down and ditched the car which started rolling towards a police cruiser. An officer jumped in the suspect's car and pulled the emergency brake.

"Officers are foot-chasing (the) driver toward storage facility ... (An) Adams County deputy sees suspect under a delearship's car. (The) suspect eventually jumps up and runs around, gets cornered, hides under another vehicle, eventually surrenders," Sgt. Frank Turek with the Federal Heights Police Department said in a statement.

Nobody was hurt.

The man is facing charges including aggravated auto theft and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

The suspect's name hasn't been released.
