FBI Reports Major Increase In Hate Crimes In Colorado
DENVER (CBS4) -- The FBI says there's a major increase in hate crimes reported in Colorado. There was a 74% spike between 2018 and 2019.
Hate crimes are directed at people based on race, sexual orientation, religion, gender identity and disability. The FBI says 210 hate crimes were reported in 2019. That's 89 more than the year before -- and it's the highest recorded in the last 20 years.
The majority of the crimes reported. in Colorado were based on race.
