Father Remembers 5-Year-Old Son Killed In Crash

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A father whose 5-year-old son died after being struck by an out-of-control car last month spoke about the accident for the first time on Thursday.

"I'll be crying from now until… if I live another 50 years, I'll probably still be crying the 49th year. He meant that much to me," Raphael Hameed, who was seriously injured in the accident, said from his hospital bed.

Hameed and his son, Ishaq, were walking along North Murray Boulevard on July 8 when police say Xyrjah Goldston sped around a corner and hit them, pinning Ishaq against a fence and killing him.

Part of Raphael Hameed's right leg was amputated.

Two days after the accident, Heidi Hameed, Isahaq's mom and Raphael's wife, said the crash devastated her family.

"This is not right," she said. "You've destroyed my family. My little boy is dead. And I'm never going to be able to hold him, and I'm never going to be able to put him in kindergarten and I'm never going to be able to see him get married."

Goldston, 21, faces vehicular homicide charges.
