Man Killed In Industrial Accident At Metal Shredding Plant
DENVER (CBS4) - A man was killed in an industrial accident at a metal shredding plant in Denver Friday morning.
The accident happened just before 8 a.m. at 11th and Umatilla Street. That's where the Atlas Metal and Iron Corp. is located, just east of Interstate 25.
Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson described the incident as a tragic accident.
"There was one male who was working at this metal shredding company where they were bailing what I believe was metal and in the process I guess the machine malfunctioned. He went to fix the malfunction and in the process the machine activated and he lost his life," Jackson said.
Jackson said the man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Denver authorities will conduct an investigation into the death. It's also expected that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will conduct an investigation.
