Crews Contain 120-Acre Lands End 2 Brush Fire Burning In Mesa County

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Crews fully contained a brush fire burning near Purdy Mesa Reservoir in Mesa County. The Lands End 2 brush fire started around 1 p.m. on Thursday near Lands End Road and Divide Road.

The fire burned 120 acres, prompting evacuation orders for several homes. Those orders were lifted before 5 p.m. and power is restored to the area.

Investigators believe the fire may have been caused by a dragging chain from a moving vehicle.

Multiple agencies helped fight the fire, including Mesa County Sheriff's Office Wildland Fire Team, Bureau of Land Management, Lands End Fire Protection District, Clifton Fire Protection District, Plateau Valley Fire Protection District, Grand Junction Fire Department, Central Orchard Mesa, and Grand Valley Power.
