Man Guilty Of Killing Neighbor's Dog Because It Came Onto His Property

GILPIN COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A man accused of shooting and killing his neighbor's dog has been found guilty by a jury in Gilpin County.

According to Pam Russell with the First Judicial District Attorney's Office, Eric R. Miller, 54, was found guilty of aggravated animal cruelty and theft "for shooting and killing his neighbor's dog because it had come onto his property."

Russell said Miller shot the dog twice and "removed its collar and buried it in a shallow grave."

It happened near the town of Rollinsville last October.

Miller was immediately taken into custody following the ruling "because he was convicted of a crime in which he used a gun during the commission of a felony." He is required to be held without bond until sentencing.

Miller is scheduled to be sentenced on July 15.
