Englewood Officers Shoot Suspect During Distrubance At Apartment Complex

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Englewood are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday night.

The shooting happened at the Silver Cliff Apartments in the 5100 block of South Delaware Street near the intersection of Broadway and Belleview around 8 p.m.

Officials say a 27-year-old man threatened a neighbor with a gun. The neighbor then called police and when two officers arrived they were involved in a shooting with the suspect.

"A neighbor spoke with the suspect and asked him to quiet down. The suspect pointed a silver colored handgun at the neighbor and verbally threatened him," police said in a statement.

The suspect who was shot was transported to Swedish Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Witness Lauren Kargoll reported hearing multiple gun shots.

"I was playing with my daughter, running around my apartment, playing hide-and-seek when we heard five or six gunshots go off," Kargoll told CBS4.

The two officers weren't injured in the shooting. They've been placed on administrative leave while the department investigates.
