Englewood High School Closed After Vandals Strike

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) – Three people broke into Englewood High School early Sunday and caused several thousand dollars of damage.

The Englewood Fire Department received a water pressure alarm signaling that water was running at the school at 1:41 a.m. on Sunday.

According to police, when emergency workers arrived they found that someone had broken into a computer room and the band room, where they set several small fires.

"Obviously we have damage to music, we have damage to furniture in there. The walls had been freshly painted and the new acoustic tiles had just been put in. Everything was brand new and now we have to kind of start from scratch," Superintendent Brian Ewert said.

Surveillance video from the school shows three males who appear to be in their 20s doing the damage. Police may release the video later on Monday.

A spokeswoman for the Englewood School District, Julie McGinley, said that both Englewood High School and Englewood Leadership Academy, which are housed in the same building, were closed on Monday.
