EMT In Colorado Springs Caught Red-Handed Stealing Pain Medication

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - An emergency medical technician in Colorado Springs is out of a job after pleading guilty to stealing from a patient.

Surveillance cameras caught Brandon Long, 31, as he swiped the patient's prescription pain medications off a shelf in her home while the patient was waiting in an ambulance.

The victim returned home to find the drugs gone.

"So I went over to my bed, looked for my pain medication, which was in bottles … on my head board and I couldn't find it -- could not find it anywhere," the woman said.

The ambulance company fired Long when it found out. He's been sentenced to 50 hours of community service and must also write a letter of apology and attend a class called Making Better Choices.
