Berthoud High Closes After Teen Found Dead Inside School

BERTHOUD, Colo. (CBS4) - Officials at Berthoud High School canceled classes on Thursday after a teenager's body was found inside the building.

The parents of the teen had called police to report that he was missing and they thought he might have gone to the school.

Police who responded to the school early Thursday morning found a door to the building open and soon after found the teen's body inside.

The cause of death hasn't been released, but police said there is no known threat to any students or staff at the school.

Students were arriving on campus Thursday morning who hadn't heard the news were being sent back home. A note from the Thompson School District said that "due to an emergency situation that has occurred on campus, Berthoud High School has been closed for today, Thursday, November 3rd."
