Driver dies in fiery electric vehicle crash on I-25 in Lone Tree

The driver of an electric vehicle died in a fiery crash on Interstate 25 in Lone Tree on Monday afternoon, Lone Tree Police Department confirmed in an update. The crash was completely clear on the interstate by 8:30 p.m.  

According to South Metro Fire Rescue social media posts, an electric vehicle fire initially shut down northbound lanes of I-25 at Ridgegate Parkway in Lone Tree. Police confirmed the vehicle was traveling northbound on I-25 when it hit the median and caught fire at about 4 p.m. 

In the update by the police department, it confirmed the driver of the vehicle died due to the fiery crash. Identity and cause of death for the driver were unknown on Monday evening. It also wasn't immediately known what kind of electric vehicle was involved. 

Northbound I-25 lanes in Lone Tree were back open at about 6:30 p.m. A complete safety closure was initiated on northbound I-25 in Castle Pines, and those lanes were back open at about 8:30 p.m.
