Former Colorado police officer sentenced for deadly crash with no lights and sirens
A former Aurora police officer will spend time in prison following a guilty plea in a deadly crash.
Eduardo Landeros, 26, was sentenced to 18 months after pleading guilty in the crash that killed 44-year-old Elias Hans Anderson back in March this year.
Colorado State Patrol investigated the crash that happened at the intersection of East Bates Avenue and South Chambers Road in Aurora. Investigators determined Landeros did not have his emergency lights or sirens activated at the time of the crash.
Aurora Police Department originally told CBS News Colorado Landeros was responding to a call of a possible break-in in the 2300 block of South Blackhawk Street when he was involved in the crash that killed Anderson.
Landeros pleaded guilty in August 2023 to Criminally Negligent Homicide, a class 5 felony. This charge carried a maximum sentence of 3 years in prison. It was also a probation-eligible offense. The defendant was taken into custody following today's sentencing hearing.

Along with the prison time, Landeros' sentence includes two years of mandatory parole, and he will also be required to pay restitution to the victim's family.
Landeros resigned from APD back in May a day prior to a scheduled internal affairs review.
