Driver Who Clipped Deputy On I-70 Turns Himself In

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The Colorado State Patrol has identified the driver involved in a deputy hit and run Wednesday night.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Deputy Sheila Kirin, 35, was directing traffic on Interstate 70 near the Chief Hosa exit amid a snowstorm Wednesday night. She was clipped by a gold hatchback vehicle and taken to the hospital where she was treated for a broken wrist.

At approximately 2 a.m. Thursday in Westminster, 53-year-old Robert Landsperg turned himself in. He was booked in Jefferson County and given a court summons.

Landsperg faces four charges including careless driving causing bodily injury and failure to remain at the scene.

Numerous crashes were reported on I-70 Wednesday night, including a 20-car pile up, between Morrison and Genesee.
