Driver Escapes Injury After Falling Rocks Hit Car On Dillon Dam Road

DILLON, Colo. (CBS4) - The spring storm is causing problems in the high country on Tuesday, including rock slides.

Barricades are now in place in both directions at Dillon Dam Road in Summit County after large boulders fell onto the road. The road is a vital route to get from Frisco to Dillon.

The boulders fell over the top of a small retaining wall that was already in place.

Crews told CBS4 they are going to take their time getting the rocks removed because they're fearful more rocks could come down. They said the hillside is so saturated with moisture more rocks could give way at a moment's notice.

CBS4 spoke to driver who was traveling on Dillon Dam Road when the rocks came down. He said his car was hit by one of the rocks but he wasn't injured.

There's currently no timetable for the road to reopen.
