Driver Crashes Head On Into Bus In Snowy Conditions

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Several people were injured after a bus and an SUV crashed Tuesday night near Steamboat Springs.

The Colorado State Patrol responded to the crash on Highway 40, one mile west of Steamboat Springs, at 6 p.m. Troopers say the driver of a Ford SUV lost control on the road due to the snow and slush, and veered into oncoming traffic, hitting a bus head on.

The male driver of the SUV was transported to Yampa Valley Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the bus as well as five passengers were also taken to the hospital, with minor to moderate injuries.

The 2003 MCI Regional Transport bus is owned by the City of Steamboat Springs.

The crash remains under investigation, and CSP is asking anyone who witnessed it to contact them at (970) 824-6501.
