Dr. Phil To Interview Burke Ramsey
By Wendy Holmes, CBS4 Program Director
Television's No. 1-rated daytime talk show, DR. PHIL, returns for its 15th season Monday, Sept. 12 (4-5 p.m. Denver time) with Part 1 of an exclusive interview with Burke Ramsey, the older brother of JonBenet Ramsey, who was found dead in the basement of her family's Boulder home in December of 1996.
Dr. Phil and Burke will continue their discussion during Part 2 on Tuesday, Sept. 13 and Part 3 on Monday Sept. 19.
As the 20th anniversary of the murder nears, Burke will speak about what he knows about his sister's mysterious death, one of America's most talked about cold cases.
The older brother of JonBenet was 9 the day after Christmas 1996 when his sister was found dead. Patsy and John Ramsey were the primary suspects in the case for over a decade but were finally cleared in 2008, two years after Patsy died of ovarian cancer.
At one time the finger of suspicion was pointed at Burke because he was in the house when JonBenet was reported missing, but his parents stood firm on the fact that he was sleeping the entire time. He was exonerated by DNA evidence in May 1999.
CBS4 will also carry CBS's network primetime special "The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey," a six-hour limited event docuseries that re-examines the unsolved JonBenet Ramsey murder. It will air Sunday Sept. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday Sept. 19 from 8 to 10 p.m. and Sunday Sept. 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. Mountain time.
