Group Flies Dogs In From Tornado-Ravaged Arkansas
ERIE, Colo. (CBS4) - Several dogs displaced by the killer tornadoes in Arkansas earlier this week have found their way to foster homes in Colorado.
A team organized through the program Pilots N Paws flew in three dogs on Thursday. The group coordinates volunteer pilots and planes to help transport animals in need.
The dogs were picked up by the Evergreen Animal Protective League and were taken to foster homes, where they will stay until they can find permanent homes.
"The only reason these dogs are alive right now is because foster homes take them in," EAPL spokeswoman Megan Weber said.
The dogs would likely have been put to sleep in Arkansas due to shelter overcrowding, as more and more animals are recovered after the devastating storms.

"These three -- Lily, Annabelle and Olive -- hopped a plane from Arkansas to get to our rescue here to be re-homed," Weber said. "For them to be able to get here in two hours on a flight is a pretty amazing thing, so that was a huge contribution from the pilot."
Weber said Olive will be staying at a Camp Bow Wow in Denver until she finds a permanent family.
"It's a pretty good feeling," she said. "This little girl wasn't going to be here and now she is."
More dogs will be arriving in Colorado over the next several days. Anyone who is interested in being a foster family for any of the animals or wants to adopt them should contact Summit Dog Rescue in Boulder or the EAPL.
