Man Who Shot Girlfriend In Face Guilty, Faces Up To 80 Years In Prison

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - A man accused of shooting his girlfriend in the face has been found guilty attempted first-degree murder.

Derek Robinson, 45, of Aurora, was also found guilty of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury.

According to the 18th Judicial District Court Office, on Jan. 5, 2015, "Aurora police officers responded to the couple's home in the 500 block of Galena Street after a neighbor called 911. Officers found the 43-year-old female victim covered in blood in her back yard. She told officers 'Derek' had shot her."

Robinson could get a sentence of up to 80 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for next January.
