Denver Rec Center Honors Oldest Member With Lifetime Membership

DENVER (CBS4) - There was a surprise birthday celebration Wednesday for the oldest member of one of Denver's recreation centers.

Elsie Simpson will turn 90 years old Thursday. She's a regular at the Hiawatha Davis Junior Recreation Center. At the celebration they surprised her with a birthday cake and a lifetime membership to the center.

"It's the biggest surprise. I never expected this. I guess it just pays to enjoy exercise, because I do," Simpson said.

Simpson says the key to a long life is to keep moving. She says her husband is the reason she has stuck to exercise all these years.
