Denver Public Schools, Jeffco Public Schools, several others closed Friday due to winter storm

Snow piling up in eastern and southeastern Colorado as storm persists

Denver Public Schools, Jeffco, Aurora, Cherry Creek, Littleton, and Douglas County School Districts are among the larger school districts to cancel school on Friday due to a snowstorm descending on Colorado. A complete list of school closures can be found on CBS Colorado's School Closings section.

A winter storm warning is in place for the Denver metro area, Front Range foothills and most of the Eastern Plains for the snowstorm, which will start becoming intense on Friday morning in the Mile High City.

"Areas in and around the Denver metro area and surrounding suburbs may see 7 to 14 inches of snow," First Alert Chief Dave Aguilera said.
