DPS Expanding Access To High-Performing Schools

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver Public Schools is planning to expand access to high-performing schools to more people who live in the city.

Two years ago, DPS tried the Strengthening Neighborhoods Initiative. The program involved schools that shifted enrollment priorities to encourage diversity in schools.

"That we celebrate that diversity with inclusive practices that make sure every student feels valued and every student feels strongly part of the school community," said Denver Public Schools superintendent Tom Boasberg.

The program received a lot of feedback, mostly positive, which trigged DPS to expand the program this next school year.

The goal is to increase access for families to schools that excel.
