Denver Police Department Hands Out Its Highest Awards

DENVER (CBS4) - Mayor Michael Hancock joined Police Chief Robert White on Thursday to hand out the department's highest awards, including the Medal of Honor, the Purple Heart, and Officer of the Year.

"We are at a time in our history in law enforcement where the negative acts of a few have greatly diminished the great work of the many. And that is why it's so important that we look for every opportunity that we can find to acknowledge the work of the men and women who come to work every single day and do what's asked of them and more," White said.

In all 15 Denver officers were recognized at the ceremony at the Brown Palace Hotel.
