Denver Lives Up To 'Cow Town' Nickname With Stock Show Parade

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver lived up to its "cow town" nickname as dozens of longhorn cattle, horses and cowboys took over downtown on Thursday for the annual National Western Stock Show Parade.

The 2015 parade featured local basketball legend and former Denver Nuggets player Chauncey Billups as the Parade Grand Marshal for the 109th National Western Stock Show.

Chauncey and his family rode in the back of a vintage Black Hawk Fire Department truck as they took off from in front of Union Station downtown at noon on Thursday.

He led the nearly century old tradition of Longhorn cattle, horses and western wagons through the streets of downtown Denver to celebrate the start of the stock show.

The parade marched 15 blocks down 17th Street.

The National Western Stock Show Rodeo officially kicks off on Saturday and continues through Jan. 25.
