Dog dies in residential building collapse on Lincoln Street in Denver

Neighbors recall blast after home explodes on Lincoln Street

Denver Fire Department confirms it responded to a building that collapsed on Lincoln Street. 

Capt. JD Chism with the department confirmed that fire crews responded to a building explosion around 6:06 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of S. Lincoln Street.

Denver Fire says Xcel Energy shut down gas lines and the power also has been shut off.

The department says one person was reportedly injured in the explosion. 

There is currently no cause for the explosion as residents were inside at the time of the incident. 

Denver Fire says the gas is expected to be shut off and will affect nearby neighbors.

Two dogs were reportedly found, but one was discovered dead. Multiple neighbors were displaced, likely including those next-door to the main home that collapsed.  

There was no active fire on scene upon the crew's arrival.
