CU Buffaloes Coach Mike MacIntyre Answers 7 Questions From Fans
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - CU Buffaloes football coach Mike MacIntyre is heading into his third year as head coach in Boulder, and he's optimistic about his team's offseason progress.
MacIntyre took time as the special guest on Xfinity Monday Live to answer seven different questions from the fans:
1. Do you plan to recruit from Colorado or expand the focus of recruiting here in Colorado?
"We try to go to every high school in Colorado and recruit it hard. We're excited about the prospects in Colorado, but we're also going to recruit California and Arizona and Texas and Florida and Georgia and some other places, but we're really excited about Colorado."
2. There are lots of (players from the southeast) who want to play here. Why?
"The Pac-12 has made a big name for itself. I know ESPN voted the Pac-12 ahead of the SEC a couple months ago. And also, the skill athletes there like to come play (here). We have more skill athletes go to the NFL out of the Pac-12. Our style of football is not as pounding. So they feel like they stay healthier longer and have a chance to play in the NFL."
3. Any chance CU will ever play Air Force?
"I don't know, I don't manage the scheduling, but Air Force has a great program. Troy Calhoun does a phenomenal job. I know Troy pretty well, he does a great job there."
4. What are your thoughts on the CU-CSU series possibly ending in 2020?
"I love playing the game there in Denver and enjoy it. But again, that's out of my hands on how that goes. I just line up and play who we get to play."
5. Do you like the stadium atmosphere or the campus atmosphere more?
"I love playing in Folsom Field. If I could play all of our games in Folsom Field I'd play them there."
6. What do you think the Broncos will do this season?
"I don't know. When I was a pro football coach I didn't know what any of the college teams were doing. When I'm a college coach I really don't know what any of the pro teams are doing. We're working on Sundays. I see a score once and a while, but I do hope the Broncos do really well. I know Peyton Manning really well. I recruited and coached his brother at Ole Miss. I would love to see the Broncos go and win it all."
7. Some people doubt Peyton Manning will be able to succeed this season. Thoughts?
"Never doubt Peyton and his work ethic. He's smart enough. He wouldn't have come back if he didn't think he could do it, and I truly believe that."
