Colorado Sells Record Hunting Licenses
DENVER (AP) - Colorado hunting regulators say they're investigating what caused a statewide licensing failure on a major day for big-game licenses.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife's licensing system was down for several hours statewide on Tuesday. The meltdown came as the agency was supposed to start selling 42,000 big-game licenses, the ones leftover from the drawing process that started in April.
The computer problem was resolved by Tuesday afternoon. The agency says the licensing system is a decade old and will be upgraded to handle growing demand.
Nearly 15,000 licenses were sold Tuesday. That's a state record for the first say of leftover license sales.
The agency says more than 28,000 leftover licenses are still available.
