Colorado Hispanic Republicans Believe Trump Will Help Minorities

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. (CBS4)- The head of the Colorado Hispanic Republicans believes that Donald Trump will help minorities.

Hugo Chavez Rey talked to CBS4's Kathy Walsh at the Colorado Republican party election night headquarters in Greenwood Village. He said that things are looking good for Trump.

"He's doing a lot better than what you heard on the news the last couple of months.

"That's one of the misconceptions is that Hispanics are one monolithic voting block and we're not. We come from a lot of different places, we have citizens, we have business owners, we have educated, non-educated, it really depends on who you are talking to as to what their positions are," said Rey.

"What he wants to do is secure the border, whether that includes building a wall or not, we're in favor of the wall if he wants to build it," said Rey. "There's nothing wrong with that."

"I don't believe he's going to split up families. What we want to do is identify the criminal element, those are the ones who are going to take priority in deportation. Then we need to secure the border in that process so that no more people can keep coming in because it's been a sieve for people to get in here from all parts of the world," said Rey.
