Highway 6 In Clear Creek Canyon Reopens After Head-On Crash Between Semi, Minivan
CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The full length of Highway 6 through Clear Creek Canyon was shut down for hours on Thursday after a collision between a semi and a minivan. Authorities conducted a lengthy investigation and the highway was closed to traffic for more than 4 hours.
Master Trooper Gary Cutler of the Colorado State Patrol said the accident was first reported at 3:43 p.m. The highway reopened just after 8 p.m.
The accident is in the vicinity of Tunnel 1, the eastern-most tunnel of that stretch.
Cutler stated that CPR was in progress on one individual involved in the crash on U.S. 6.
A saddle tank on the semi was ruptured but fuel was not leaking into Clear Creek, Cutler said.
Copter4 was able to see both badly damaged vehicles when it flew over the scene at 4:45 p.m.
