City Council To Hold Public Hearing About Denver Zoo Improvements

DENVER (CBS4) - The Denver City Council will hear from the public about changes to the Denver Zoo Monday evening.

Neighbors of the zoo have complained about the exterior view to the south, but the zoo wants to do much more than change that with a plan that could take two decades to complete.

The zoo says it is in need of many major upgrades. It wants to add more than 30 new buildings without growing past its current 80 acre footprint in City Park. That has required some creative planning, and the staff is promising that visitors will love the changes that are in the works.

The city council has given preliminary approval to the plan but a final vote will come after it hears from neighbors.
