Chris Watts Agrees To Pay $6 Million In Civil Suit

WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Chris Watts has agreed to pay more than $6 million to his murdered wife's family. Watts was convicted of killing his pregnant wife, Shanann, and their two young daughters, Bella and Celeste.

The payment comes after a lawsuit filed by Shanann's parents.

Chris Watts will to pay for both causing their deaths and for the "grief, pain and suffering" he caused as a result of the murders.

While it's unlikely Watts can pay much, if anything, relatives of victims often file such suits to prevent the convicted from profiting from books or by selling the rights to their story.
