CDOT Opens I-70 Mountain Express Toll Lane Again, Reports Success

IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - The Interstate 70 Mountain Express Lane was back open this weekend and the Colorado Department of Transportation is calling it a big success.

The 13-mile toll lane runs along the left shoulder of eastbound I-70 in Clear Creek County. It's only been open a few times since its launch in December but the toll lanes have helped cut down on mountain traffic jams.

Tolls have stayed below $10 so far but they could rise to $30 on peak travel days.

The Vail Daily reports CDOT is now looking at a similar project for the westbound lanes.
