Carbondale Mother Admits She Tried To Poison Kids
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A Carbondale mother now admits she tried to poison her children.
Maria Alvarado-Gomez, 33, pleaded guilty to child abuse in Garfield County Court on Monday.
Alvarado-Gomez gave her children milkshakes laced with rat poison last summer. She also took the poison. Everyone recovered.
The mother told investigators she did not want to suffer anymore.
She also said she would rather the children be dead than alive in Mexico.
Alvarado-Gomez faces four to 16 years in prison when she's sentenced.
