The sheriff's office issued an update and confirmed that one home was burning and there could be more homes involved as deputies evacuated a three-mile area near County Road 193 and County Road 34, while the fire is burning in the southeast direction.

Another update was issued and as a result of the brush fire, four homes were destroyed along with multiple structures.

The sheriff's office had put in place a Stage 1 Burn Ban in place, which means no open burning of any kind without a permit.

Arapahoe County Sheriff Tyler Brown discussed the overall impact of the fire on the community and how members lend a helping hand during these type of situations.

"We did have a number of landowners and farmers come into the area, this is a very tight-knit community that provides help for each other in times of need like this," he said.

Neighbors also brought out personal farm equipment to assist others in fighting the brush fire.

"The fact is, is that everybody does what they can. I mean, my wife is out helping the people behind us put down little brush fires... we just had something like 10, 15 tractors out here," a resident said. "The way rural communities work is by having a community soul."

Fire crews surveyed the scene overnight to put out any remaining hot spots and those who had to evacuate their homes are now able to return safely.
