"I said get to the basement there's a shootout up front," said witness Bill McGee. "I saw that the one suspect was lying in the street and not moving."

McGee said the body in the street was not a police officer.

Broomfield police tweeted that the body seen lying in the street from the video taken by Copter4 was that of the suspect.

One Denver police officer was shot in the neck and in stable condition. The suspect was wanted in a homicide investigation out of Denver. The suspect got into a collision with another vehicle and that's when the suspect ran from the crash scene. The suspect then shot at the officers and they returned fire.

"The suspect got out, left the shoes behind as you can see the shoes near the vehicle, and ran and started firing shots at the officers at that time," said Broomfield Police Department spokeswoman Rachel Haslett.

That suspect tried to carjack another vehicle and failed.

That suspect has not been identified other than the suspect was male. Broomfield police also said that there is no danger to the community. No Broomfield police officers were injured.

The person in the blue vehicle was an innocent bystander and not injured. The public is urged to stay away from the area during the investigation. Broomfield police said that the area would be considered a crime scene for several hours during the investigation.

"It's pretty traumatizing because we just don't feel like this is what we expect here," said McGee.
