Broncos Land Free Agent Safety T.J. Ward

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) – Unrestricted free agent safety T.J. Ward has agreed to sign with the Denver Broncos, the team announced on Tuesday.

Ward, from the University of Oregon, has four years of NFL experience, all with the Cleveland Browns. He was selected in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft.

"We are excited to add T.J. Ward to the Denver Broncos," Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway said in a statement. "He's a young, explosive strong safety who is going to bring a lot of energy and toughness to our secondary."

Over his career Ward has totaled 340 tackles (253 solo), five interceptions (133 yds.), 3.5 sacks (29 yds.), 26 passes defensed, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two defensive touchdowns.

Ward was a standout for the Browns last season when he had a career high 129 tackles (96 solo), and matched his career best with two interceptions. He made the Pro Bowl team last season.

The terms of the deal haven't been released.
