A mixed bag of weather will continue through the Wednesday morning commute across the Denver metro area and the Eastern Plains.

Rain and snow developed rapidly develop across Colorado's Front Range Tuesday afternoon. A quick burst of snow prompted a Blizzard Warning to be extended from Castle Rock down to northern Colorado Springs out to the Kansas state line through Wednesday morning. For parts of Douglas and Elbert counties down northern Colorado Springs we can expect 3 to 6 inches of snow along with wind gusts up to 50 mph through 3 am! From Limon east to Burlington snow amounts will range from 2 to4 inches with gusts up to 70 mph through 9am.

Eastern Arapahoe and Adams counties up into NE Colorado have a Winter Weather Advisory through Wednesday morning for 65 mph wind gusts and 1 to 3 inches of snow.

The Central mountains may see 6 to 12 inches of snow with lesser amounts for the southwestern areas and northwest plateau areas.

Areas I'd plan to avoid travel on any road east of the airport as significant delays and closures are possible.

Be sure to stay tuned to CBS Colorado as we continue to fine-tune the forecast.
