Black Friday Softened By Thursday's Thanksgiving Shopping Rush

DENVER (CBS4) - The early-morning Black Friday rush on tech, toys and another hot Christmas gifts was tempered a bit in Denver, as Thursday's Thanksgiving rush snagged the true early-bird shoppers.

"We've stood in line before for two and a half hours before in this store. And today it doesn't look like we're going to have that long line," shopper Patti Thill said at a Kohl's store in Lakewood.

Business was still brisk, however, at a Best Buy on Colorado Boulevard near Interstate 25.

Retailers are expected to earn roughly 20 percent of their annual sales during the holiday season. More than 140 million Americans are expected to shop this weekend.

Some non-traditional retailers, like marijuana shops, attracted long lines. Shoppers at the Grass Station, a pot shop in north Denver, lined up around the block for deals on edibles and ounces.
