2 Men In A Truck End Up In Bear Creek

DENVER (CBS4)- Two men and a truck ended up in Bear Creek in southwest Denver on Tuesday morning.

The driver told CBS4 he was exiting Hampden Avenue to northbound Sheridan Boulevard but believes his brakes went out and the truck plummeted into the water.

Witnesses say the driver went into the creek to avoid hitting anyone on the bike path.

"There are a few of us who almost got hit and it would have been serious. He was flying," said one witness. "You know, he had two choices: take the river or hit us. He said he didn't know the river was here. He said he just didn't want to run into any of the people."

Two men inside the truck were able to escape without injury. They are shaken up but okay.

A tow company has been called to help get the truck out of the creek.
