Bank Robbery Suspect Also Took Couple's Car, Personal Information

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) - They got their stolen car back, but their personal items are still missing. Now a Colorado couple is wondering if the robber who took their belongings will come back.

The couple says the suspect took some important personal information before heading out on bank robbery spree.

"I was laying there dead tired, asleep, and then I heard her car throttle … we both just looked at each other and our jaws dropped," said the man, who didn't want to use his name.

The bank robber led him on a high speed chase. The suspect first robbed a bank in Westminster, and not more than an hour later robbed another bank in Englewood.

In addition to getting away with the keys to his home and other vehicles, the suspect gained access to personal information that was in the car from bank accounts and credit cards.

"What do you do from there? We're just sitting back now going, 'Alright, all we can do is re-key everything, close all of the bank accounts,' " the man said.

Police were able to track down and arrest the suspect in Castle Rock a couple hours later, but his identity is not being released to anyone.

The victim's stolen car was returned, but with crucial items missing.

"It would be nice to at least find out who this clown is and maybe get some kind of insight as to where the missing stuff might be," the man said. "I mean that's just kind of creepy in general, not knowing who might have your information."

An FBI spokesperson told CBS4 the suspect is currently being held in custody on unrelated state charges and investigators are working to determine exactly what charges he'll face now.
