Avalanche Danger Rises Across Colorado
SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - With the return of significant snowfall from a series of storms over the Thanksgiving weekend comes an increase in the risk of avalanches across the state.
According to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center website, large sections of the mountain region are under moderate to considerable avalanche danger right now.
Reports of skier triggered avalanches on Berthoud Pass over the weekend did not result in anyone getting caught but experts warn backcountry users the threat is real.
The danger is highest areas above treeline.
