CU Boulder Police: 'threat to colleges in the Denver area is a hoax'
The Auraria Campus in downtown Denver was closed Friday morning while a potential threat was investigated. The campus tweeted an alert and urged everyone to remain calm and leave campus.

Earlier on Friday, investigators were looking into threats made to Front Range Community College and other community college campuses in the Denver metro area.
The Colorado Community College System tweeted that they are working with campus security teams at Arapahoe Community College, Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver, and Red Rocks Community College.
CCCS has been made aware of a threat against several metro-area CCCS colleges, including @ArapahoeCC, @CCAurora, @CCDedu, @frccedu, and @rrccedu.

We are working closely with campus security teams and law enforcement agencies to monitor the situation.
All three campuses. Students and employees inside the building(s) are safe. We're just asking folks who aren't already on campus to avoid the area for now. We’ll keep you updated here as soon as we learn more.

CU Police then tweeted shortly after noon that the campus is closed "out of caution." In the tweet, the university stressed there was no threat to the campus in Boulder but that all classes and activities were canceled and employees should work remotely.

A few hours later, CU Boulder Police tweeted that "law enforcement determined the previous threat to colleges in the Denver area is a hoax."

Front Range Community College tweeted that all operations were moved remote for the rest of the day on Friday and all day Saturday. Upcoming events would be rescheduled for a later date.
Starting now, #FRCC is moving all college operations--at all FRCC campuses--to REMOTE for the rest of the day (Fri, Aug. 5) and for tomorrow (Sat, Aug. 6). Campuses are closing at noon. Upcoming events will have to be rescheduled for a later date. Sorry for any inconvenience!
