Aspen Officials Weigh Changes To Zoning Regulations

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Aspen officials are weighing demands for greater control over zoning variations that could require voter approval of major land use decisions.

A coalition of voters wants to strip the council of its ability to grant variances on height, floor area, affordable housing and parking.

The city council will decide Monday whether to draft its own ballot language which could go to voters in May.

The council is considering a cap on variance requests which would allow more flexibility on requests.
